Callaway Golf Cart Earns “CONVERSION Of The Year” Award At Annual Association Of Rotational Molders Event

Honor Is Par For The Course For Perennial Award-Winner Meese

How New Cart Prevents $20,000.00 In Callaway Clubs From Rolling Away

For the second consecutive year, Meese, American Rotational Molding Group (La Mirada, CA.), earned the coveted “Conversion of the Year” award at the annual Rotomolded Products Competition. Meese was recognized for the redesign and manufacturing of a custom golf club merchandising cart for Callaway Golf Company noted for its Big Bertha clubs. Amazingly, the portable scooter holds numerous woods and irons and an IBM ThinkPad data acquisition system, enabling Callaway teaching professionals to gather data and recommend the ideal club sizes for their lucky clientele.

Meese’s redesigned club fitting adds strength, longevity and visual appeal, while guarding against the rigors of outdoor operations. In addition, the sleek, durable, rotationally molded polyethylene structure can accommodate the heavyweight of the clubs.

The fabricated metal vacuum-formed plastic panel has been replaced by a more efficient and simplified design that eliminated several hundred parts along with associated assembly requirements. Consequently, Meese’s production rates increased, contributing to an overall cost reduction of 75 percent. The redesigned cart also features an aerodynamic, lower profile, which can be shipped fully assembled in a single carton—ready for immediate use on the course or range.

In addition to reducing costs for Callaway, Meese’s expert engineers added a host of amenities and security precautions that are already impressing Callaway’s top instructors. For example, in order to safeguard the nearly $20,000.00 in clubs and equipment, the redeveloped cart requires keyed access via separate locking covers that hide the computer and printer, locking the clubs into their individual tubes.

Furthermore, the cart easily fits through standard-sized doorways, permitting secure storage inside buildings, protecting clubs from exposure to the elements. Finally, Meese added a nifty front wheel that swivels 360 degrees and a new brake system that halts the cart when movement is not desired yet remains hidden for visual appeal.
